The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway has three trainee posts available as part of the Interpretation and Boston Lodge Project funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund.
- Graduate Project Management Trainee
- Graduate Interpretation Trainee
- Works Administration Trainee
Two of the posts, in interpretation and project management, will suit graduates who are looking for experience in the heritage sector and one further post will suit someone looking for experience of administration in an engineering environment.
The project has three key strands: interpretation across the railway, developing skills, and conserving buildings. This is a particularly exciting time with the recent World Heritage Site announcement for the Slate Landscapes of North Wales with which the project has close links and shared ambitions to make a positive impact in the area.
The 2 year full-time traineeships, starting in September and attracting the living wage, are part of the skills strand of the project and this is an excellent opportunity for the right individuals to develop skills in a heritage environment where there are few formal courses.

Whilst we would welcome applications from anyone with the right to live and work in the UK we are keen to promote the use of the Welsh language within the workplace, and the development of heritage skills within Wales therefore we would encourage applications from those who speak or are learning the language, and those who come from Wales and / or trained in Wales and are looking for opportunities to use and develop their skills within the heritage sector in Wales.

Mae gan Reilffyrdd Ffestiniog ac Eryri dair swydd i hyfforddeion fel rhan o Brosiect Dehongli’r Rheilffyrdd a Boston Lodge a ariennir gan Gronfa Dreftadaeth y Loteri Genedlaethol (CTLG).
· Hyfforddai Rheoli Prosiectau Graddedig
· Hyfforddai Dehongli Graddedig
· Hyfforddai Gweinyddu Gwaith
Bydd dwy swydd, ym maes dehongli a rheoli prosiectau, yn addas i raddedigion sy’n chwilio am brofiad yn y sector treftadaeth a bydd un swydd arall yn addas i rywun sy’n chwilio am brofiad o weinyddu mewn amgylchedd peirianneg.
Mae tair prif elfen i’r prosiect: dehongliadau ar draws y rheilffyrdd, datblygu sgiliau, a diogelu adeiladau. Mae hwn yn gyfnod cyffrous gyda’r cyhoeddiad diweddar am ddynodi Tirweddau Llechi Gogledd Cymru yn Safle Treftadaeth Byd. Mae gan y prosiect gysylltiadau agos â’r ardaloedd llechi ac mae’n rhannu’r un uchelgais i gael effaith gadarnhaol yn yr ardal.
Mae’r swyddi dan hyfforddiant yn rhai llawn-amser, am 2 flynedd, yn dechrau ym mis Medi ac yn denu’r cyflog byw. Maent yn rhan o elfen sgiliau’r prosiect ac mae hwn yn gyfle gwych i’r unigolion iawn ddatblygu sgiliau mewn amgylchedd treftadaeth lle nad oes llawer o gyrsiau ffurfiol.
Dewch i gael rhagor o wybodaeth yn y diwrnod agored ar y 7fed o Ebrill (9:00 – 16:00) lle gallwch gwrdd â’r bobl y byddech chi’n gweithio gyda nhw a chael rhagor o wybodaeth am y swyddi dan hyfforddiant, y prosiect a’r rheilffyrdd. Gallwch benderfynu a ydych chi am wneud cais am swydd hyfforddai ar ôl i chi fod yn y diwrnod agored!
Er y byddem yn croesawu ceisiadau gan unrhyw un sydd â’r hawl i fyw a gweithio yn y DU, rydym yn awyddus i hyrwyddo’r defnydd o’r Gymraeg yn y gweithle, a datblygu sgiliau treftadaeth yng Nghymru felly byddem yn annog ceisiadau gan y rheini sy’n siarad neu’n dysgu’r iaith, a’r rheini sy’n dod o Gymru a/neu sydd wedi’u hyfforddi yng Nghymru ac sy’n chwilio am gyfleoedd i ddefnyddio a datblygu eu sgiliau yn y sector treftadaeth yng Nghymru.
