Your safety is our priority and therefore as this is a working site we politely advise that tours are only suitable for children aged 10 and over with an accompanying adult, whilst dogs are not permitted on site at Boston Lodge.
Please note the duration of the full tour is 2 hours and although there are some opportunities to sit down, if you feel you may find this tiring you may like to consider our shorter 1-hour Mini Tour instead.
The behind-the-scenes nature of the tour means that there are rails and uneven surfaces throughout the site. Your sight must be sufficient to see potential dangers yourself, and you must be able to walk/stand unaided for 2 hours for your own comfort.

There are no café facilities at Boston Lodge however Spooner’s Café & Bar at Harbour Station gives you an opportunity to grab a drink or enjoy a delicious meal before or after any tour.
Toilet facilities are available on the Boston Lodge tour.
What do I need to know before I come?
Boston Lodge is a working engineering site with rails and uneven surfaces throughout and is often muddy in places. This is combined with frequent vehicle and train movements. Due to the uneven ground and the amount of walking involved, the tour is not accessible to wheelchair users or people who are not fully mobile without assistance. For your own safety and comfort, tour participants must be able to stand and walk for the two-hour duration unaided. Your sight must be sufficient to see potential dangers yourself. Accessibility is under constant review in these early months.

What to wear
Please wear warm clothes and bring a waterproof as the weather can be unpredictable. Stout shoes, preferably walking boots, must be worn. Anyone wearing sandals or open-toed shoes will not be allowed on the tour.
Getting here
You will be met at Harbour Station by a Tour Guide before being taken to Boston Lodge on a scheduled train service where you will be given a safety briefing.
Car parking for our visitors is available in the fenced area at the end of the nearby Llyn Bach car park (LL49 9DF), a short walk away from Porthmadog Harbour Station. Parking is free for Railway passengers in this section only. The car park is open from 0730 – 2000 and is available on a first come first served basis. The remainder of this car park is council run and the appropriate fee should be paid (see map). Disabled badge holders may park at the station and should make themselves known to a station host on arrival, but please check the access requirements as above. Please do not leave dogs unattended in vehicles.
