The level of corrosion over the years is enormous with a full wheel barrow of rust flakes inside. A fascinating find was the stamp which shows a crown and the inscription ‘Best Boiler Plate’ on the upper part of the tank. The final picture shows the first new panel riveted in place. The rivets were found deep in the bowels of the stores at Boston Lodge. They have been there a very long time. Indeed they look the same as the ones removed from the tank last week.
